Bus Route Approval
Bus routes are limited to designated county roads. A school board may propose that a route be extended to another area. The final decision, however, rests with the County Transportation Committee. The County Transportation Committee is made up of one representative from each school district, one County Commissioner, and the County Superintendent of Schools.
Criteria for approval are road safety, adequate turnaround, and number of children to be served. If a bus route is not available, parents are paid mileage to transport their children to school.
